My sister, Sadie, called me last night, and she was laughing, “Have you been to that website “Shitmydadsays” yet?”
“No, not yet,” I told her.
“Go. Now.”
“I can’t. I’m ironing my sheets. I’ll check it out when I’m done.”
She started laughing harder, “You’re what? Did you say you were ironing your sheets?”
“Yeah, I like it when the sheets are all smooth,” and I was feeling a little indignant. There’s no way that I’m the only person who’s ever ironed their sheets. None.
“Doesn’t Dog sleep in your bed?” And she’s still laughing.
I was quiet for a minute, “Well, he enjoys a freshly made bed, too.”
“Holy crap, Paige. Just dim the lights. He’ll never know the difference.”
“Okay. Gotta go now.”
She was still laughing when I hung up.
Lily called a few minutes later.
“What’re you doing?” she asked.
“Ironing my sheets.”
“Oh.” Silence. “Really?”
“Yes, really,” and I tensed for laughter.
But she just said, “Our maid did that.”
“Yeah, well, my mom’s maid used to fold all her plastic market bags into little tiny squares, but, until I can afford a maid, I’ll be the one ironing the sheets. And I use the cloth bags.” I threw that last bit in for good measure. I’m nothing if not environmentally conscious.
Well, except for the extra electricity I’m using to iron my sheets.
I thought about this for a minute and decided I was still coming out ahead.

I think this is the best post you've ever done. Seriously. :)) Loved it....xo
Yep, it made my top 3 posts of the week. And I liked it so much I made a weekly category like that at the top of my blog. You're in girl :))
No, you aren't the only one who irons their sheets--my mom does. I on the other hand do not but if I'm in bed and the sheets are not tucked in, I make my husband get out of the bed so that I can remake it. He says I'm crazy.
Shh, I have a maid and she irons our sheets. when I first saw her do it I thought she was crazy but a couple of nights later she changed the sheets and they felt different. Actually they felt great!
Great post and I like your header.
Over from Braja's....
I've never ironed my sheets, but if it makes you sleep better or feel better...why not? Iron away! Plus...ironing is a lot like painting...repetitive. Kinda meditative I think!
I don't iron my sheets, but my husband had to, growing up. He was one of ten kids and I think that his mom had them iron sheets and underwear to keep them busy!
Mostly we use flannel sheets, and ironing those would just be wrong.
Um, you don't do the underwear too, do you? (at least no starch)
My mom always ironed our sheets. But now they make bamboo sheets (BB&Beyond) that feel ironed.
I stopped by from Braja's Congrats on being a diamond post.
And yes, I iron sheets too. They feel soooooo much nicer when they're fresh and ironed :-)
xo
I have to say, I have never ironed sheets. I bet they do feel good all nice and smooth though :) I use Jersey sheets. They don't wrinkle ;)
I don't iron anything. Ever. If the dryer will not knock the wrinkles out, it was meant to be wrinkled. That's my philosophy. ... I don't think I even own an iron, come to think of it.
I iron my pillow cases, but not my sheets. The organic cotton turns into a ball of wrinkles after one night. The struggles of an environmentalist...ha
Ironing sheets is a MUST - I LOVE getting in to a freshly washed, freshly ironed bed.
Too funny! My Hus would love it if I ironed my sheets. I used to iron almost every peice of clothing I had but then I figured out that they end up wrinkled looking anyways. Ironing also kills germs.
